The Ultimate Minimal Beauty and Skincare Routine

For dry, sensitive skin—and learning how to care for it with intention

TL;DR:

A minimal beauty routine focuses on fewer, more intentional products that support your skin without overwhelming it.

What is a Minimal Beauty Routine in this Season of life

Since having my daughter, I’ve become much more protective of my time.

And that has changed the way I care for my body.

Less clutter.
Less time spent on routines.
Less noise.

More intention.

I keep my routine grounded in what actually matters—what works, what feels good, and what supports my skin over time.

Why I Chose a minimal Beauty Routine

The best body care doesn’t start with products.

It starts with how you nourish yourself.

So girlies, let’s not forget to eat our veggies and berries, take our vitamins, drink our water… and mind our own business.

Trust me, minding your business reduces stress, and less stress shows up everywhere—including your skin.

Products I Love and use Daily

When it comes to the products I do use, they’ve earned their place.

Here is what my minimal body care routine looks like.

1. Dry brushing

I always start with dry brushing.

Introducing dry brushing can take some getting used to. The sensation felt foreign to me at the beginning—because it was. Bristles, in my mind, only belonged on my head or against my teeth, and my skin agreed… at first.

But with time, I got used to it. And my skin responded positively.

It helps stimulate circulation, encourages lymphatic drainage, and gently exfoliates the skin.

Beyond the physical benefits, it wakes up my body. It’s energizing in a way that sets the tone for everything that follows.

2. Contrast water

I love a hot shower, but I always introduce cooler water before I step out.

I especially use contrast showers in the morning. Similar to dry brushing, at first they don’t feel so fun.

But I turn the temperature down slowly to allow my body to acclimate. Now, by the time I reach the coldest temperature, it feels invigorating.

If I was sleepy before the shower, I am definitely not sleepy after.

Cool water can help improve circulation, tighten the appearance of the skin, and support overall skin tone.

Not a product—just a little help from nature.

3. Body wash

I use the Naturium Glow Getter Body Wash.

It’s hydrating, gentle, and leaves my skin feeling clean without that tight, stripped feeling.

It cleans without disrupting my skin, which is especially important for me with dryness and sensitivity.

4. Exfoliation

I use the same Naturium wash with a sapo, also known as an African net sponge.

The sapo originated in Ghana and is made of a stretchable mesh material that allows you to exfoliate effectively while still being gentle on the skin.

It reaches areas that are easy to miss, creates a rich lather with minimal product, and leaves my skin feeling smooth without irritation.

It’s also washable and reusable, which makes it a simple, sustainable addition to my routine.

It’s one of those small upgrades that makes a big difference.

5. Oil

Once I step out of the shower, while my skin is still slightly damp, I go in with oil.

I use SheaMoisture 100% Virgin Coconut Oil.

My good sis put me on when she gifted me a bottle during my pregnancy, and I’ve been hooked ever since.

It smells heavenly, but still light. It melts into my skin and gives me that soft, nourished feeling immediately.

My husband loves the way it smells. He also doesn’t mind the slip on my skin when he wants to get a little closer… if you catch my drift.

6. Seal with cream

The final step is sealing everything in with a thick cream.

I use the Aveeno Baby Eczema Therapy Balm.

Its star ingredient is colloidal oatmeal, which I swear by for its deeply moisturizing and soothing properties.

It’s rich, gentle, and deeply hydrating without being irritating. No fragrance, no fluff—just something that works.

It may be marketed for babies, but it works perfectly for my more mature skin.

And some days, I can be a big baby myself… so it fits.

I’m not chasing every new product or trend.

I’m building a relationship with my skin.

Learning what it needs.
Listening when it changes.
Responding with care instead of excess.

And over time, that has changed everything.
